OK I hate to beat a dead horse here but I just want some clarification. The 180 gal tank is 6x2x2 and the 135 is 6x1.5x2 (6" narrower). With the 180 can I keep more fish peacefuly or just the same number of a bit larger fish than I could with the 135?

I guess what I am saying is does a fish that would be happy with a 2' territory in a 2' wide tank need a 3' territory in a 1.5' tank? Or would he be just as happy with 2' in a 1.5' wide or a 2' wide?

I understand that different fish have different space requirements but lets assume that we are talking about taking some fish that live peacefuly in a 180 gal and place them in a 135. Im talking about GT,s, JD,s, Jags, etc.

with the extra 6in you can def keep more and larger fish more peacefully and sucessfully than in the 135. the 6in really makes a ton of difference in my opinion. greatly increases the variety of larger fish you can keep with out problems.

Yea go with the 180, I got the 135 and I am really regreting not getting the 180 instead. There are so many more stocking options with the 180

Another vote for the 180g. I have a Tru Vu 180 and have been very satisfied with the size. I think you'd regret getting a 135 eventually.

Deffinatly a 180!

An even better tank would be a 240 wide at 72x30x25. That opens you up to two foot long fish depending on the sp. It's around 200 dollars more, but again, the extra 6 inches makes for a HUGE difference. :cool-1:

If you're torn between two tanks, always get the next size bigger than the biggest one you want, in no time at all you'll hate yourself for not doing it.

Get the 180,I have a 135 and I wish I would have spent a little extra money so I could have got the 180.

If room is not an issue, get the 180gallon. Night and day difference between the two. Fish will act more natural in the 2 foot tank.
