Thanks! This tank has had various different plants in it over the past year and a half, right now it's almost primarily anubias (because it's my favourite and it's easy haha). I've also had success with hygrophila, dwarf Sag, vallisneria, bolbitis, red tiger lotus, cryptocoryne, aponogeton, Java fern, staurogyne repens, echnidorus and probably more that I can't think of off the top of my head. There is a plant growth substrate under the sand, so the plants thrived, I just got fed up of trimming them so opted to go with mainly anubias.Very nice set up with Zen simplicity and tranquility. Goldfish is more appreciated in the East than West, and almost never posted in MFK. Most Goldfish tanks I've seen are bare bottom tank with no decorations, no plants, just a background to show the color and silhouette of the fish. What plants do you grow that the goldfish won't lunch one them? I see that you have a black box to secure the plants, what is it made with? What filtration do you use to remove the high waste load from goldfish and at the same time not creating too much current to drive out CO2?
I did have some anubias in the sand (rhizome above the substrate) and a lot of it attached to wood, but I felt that the wood was becoming a hazard as many of the goldfish are quite big now. I opted to make a sort of rack (using egg crate). I didn't consider the fact that it floats haha, so it's still a work in progress. I have another for the other side of the tank, but I'm yet to finish that. I run 2 fx5s on here. They do creature plenty of surface agitation, but not so much that the plants suffer.
