good advice later in this thread. Fleshy means taking good care of your set up. cleaning your canister frequently, doing regular water changes, watching your water quality in general.

you won't be sad in the long run for going to an overflow and sump. lights wont matter until you get corals, for now I would run whatever you find cheap. shop lights would even work. Also, buy more skimmer than you can afford. It will pay for itself.

feeding? Always a tricky bit with aggressive fish, I mean, what to feed them is easy, its just a matter of finding stuff that everyone likes and that you can get to all the eaters. I like shrimp, fresh fatty fish, squid etc. Sometimes I even slap em in a blender together.

Mostly I feed New Life Spectrum pellets in an auto feeder, but I get the best seafood I can when I feed it. (at this point, mostly just to my anemone)

I just got the New Life Spectrum pellets in and tried it in the main tank where the Grouper is but only the Domino is interested in the pellets as well as in the Quarantine where the undulated is eating the pellets but not the blue jaw trigger sort of off topic i only have a few rocks in the quarantine tank and the undulated found the cave first and the blue jaw twice his size tried to take it that undulated was not having it.

Should I soak the fish in Selcon at all?

I don't bother. I use selcon for nori to make it a bit more nutritious for the tangs. I also use it when trying to get fish onto pellets, I will soak them for a couple minutes in it to soften them up a touch.

that undulated is a gorgeous fish, but nothing will take that cave away. (also, there is a decent chance he will go all Tarantino on your tank when he gets just a little bigger)

I got it But what fresh seafood do you feed them? I know my Grouper is eating frozen Krill now but the Domino will not touch it I have been feeding him Some brine shrimp I have left and NLS. I would like to be able to feed one feeding for them all to eat.

What do you mean about Husbandry?

Krill I only use as a supplemental treat food, and a color booster.

I go to the store, and buy whatever fresh seafood is cheapest. I have never seen a fish refuse raw table shrimp. They love it, and that sort of seafood is generally more nutritious. Its really not as expensive as you would think either. I get a pound of raw shrimp for about $10. Compare that to a blister pack of brine shrimp, $3. Way less food, way less quality, about a third of the price.

I feed PE mysis, nori (supplemented with live macros and aquarium algae sheets of other colors than green), and NLS.

This is then supplemented by the meaty foods, whatever I can find cheapest.

Husbandry means good aquascaping, good h2o quality, and a high quality diet that will keep fish from fighting, and allow them to be healthy enough to recover when they do. I am sure you are up for the task. I just know that triggers have nasty teeth, and that groupers can just be huge jerks...same with the damsel, but I love a nice big domino as much as the next guy!

Always listen to my brother. :D

When you have larger more agressive fish like this, I recommend that you try to hand feed everyone. This is:

A. More fun.

and

B. Ensures that you can get food to everyone. Trust me...triggers can be a little flighty, but it wont be long before they take food from your hand as long as you arent dancing about.

I have an undulated. I bought it appreciating its beauty, and its cheap price tag. It never went into my reefs because of the horror stories I heard in between the time of purchase, and the arrival at the tank.

Your 300g tank will be needed to give him the space he is going to demand. Lets hope he works something out with the bluejaw.

I have had good luck with triggers and NLS...are you feeding a big enough/small enough sized pellet? Triggers will usually take larger things even I find. Keep feeding it.

Groupers are hard to feed NLS, cause they take one thing, go eat it, and then come back for more. That is a situation where you would take whatever cheap marine meat you could find and feed it to him.

Good luck with everything, you have some nice fish.

You guys are awesome I really appreciate the knowledge you provide So here it is I put the domino in the Main tank Yesterday for now he is bigger than the Grouper by at least 2 inches and is a bully here is an ok pic i Just took of him he will not let the grouper eat at all

picture.php

HE will eat whatever I put in the tank he never stops eating It is unreal Well I am sure the Grouper will get tired of it and push back if he gets hungry enough

I say run a sump it will make filtration so much easier and give more room for fish

Big domino's are cool. I filled up my first tank them and triggers. Whew was that a scene at feeding time. I always wanted to see one host an anemone, but haven't tried it yet.

NP. Fleshy is a good source, years of first hand experience, does it for a job, and has learned from a lot of my mistakes too. I'm not on here as much as he is, and honestly, I usually just pop in to see what him and nonstophoops are up to.

We are developing a pretty nice little community here, and Im glad that we now have another member in you.

The more the merrier, and in my opinion, we tend to be a little more open, and willing to help everyone than some of the people on the big name salty sites.

I would try getting food right down close to the grouper. Chase off the damsel if you have to. Once the grouper learns to hand feed there is no way the damsel will out compete him for food.

Thanks bro. You were instrumental in the recovery from some of the first major mistakes made in the late 90's early 2000's. Im sure and I hope that we have many more misadventures ahead of us. :D
