Good Morning MFK!

I recently purchased a 180 gallon tank for my children. I have a 12in RTC , 11in Florida Gar and a 6in Peacock Bass. All three have been living together with no issues. If all possible I would like some advice on the best way to set-up my tank. Everything from filters, substrate, decor and even plants. Im open to all ideas. I had a Marineland canister filter, one large piece of drift wood and a medium size substrate. It did ok but i wa something different. Thanks to every who gives advice or provides input. Here is what they are currently in. Please help me, with my plain ol tank!!! LOL!

Do you own a small to medium sized swimming pool? Cause that's what you'll need for your catfish. ;)

Just curious of the dimensions of your tank, doesnt look like a 180g. Could just be the picture though.

As far as setting up your tank; just do whatever you like. None of those fish need anythign crazy specific. I personally like black backgrounds with either dark sand or bare bottom.

The tank in the picture is not the 180 gallon. The 180 gallon has been set up yet. It will be this weekend, the are in a 40 gallon breeder until tomorrow morning.

I have done my research and seen a couple of big ones. I will make sure that he is comfortable and healthy. He is going to by housed into my 180 for a while then he will get moved into a 500 gallon tank (project starting in the near future).

Excellent.

I would definitely do Sand for a substrate. Easier to clean with bigger messier fish. The more filtration the better, I'd probably do a similar combination of FX5's and AC110 as previously mentioned. Although a sump would be Ideal. The less decorations on the bottom the better because the RTC will move everything anyway.
