she is no fool. I am sure she now realizes the tank is the cheapest component...lol

seems that asking for forgiveness is easier than asking permission! I'm in a similar conundrum now, good deal on a tank, great price, nowhere to store it for the next few months, it's brutal.

Tell here, you don't want to be self fish and that your fish deserve a bigger home.. Tell her that you may lose some space in your home but you guys can gout out side and travel to other places if your feeling cramped. The fish are stuck in the tank you put them in so you just want to give them some extra space.. Haha make it into a moral thing..

but... but... that tank is basically free at that price... I don't know if I could even build one my self for that little... (meaning me buying/cutting/assembling the glass)... Nope I couldn, did the math, it would cost me around 400$ for that much half inch plate.

See if you can store it at your parents?

i would buy it no matter what!!! i don't ask just do lol

If you know you are not going to be able to get it then your going to have to play Negative, keep telling yourself its too cheap and there is a reason why.....keep saying it will leak in a few months , its scratched more than a teenagers scrotum and the glass would need 7 days of scrubbing just to get the hard water stains off. Otherwise when it is finally sold, your going to be mad !

You scrub hard water stains? I just go to the hardware store, but a bottle of concentrated HCl (hydrochloric acid, aka muriatic acid) some heavy gloves, and a spray bottle. I dilute the HCl a bit with some water (put the water in the bottle first, its safer to add acid to water then to add water to acid), spray that mix onto the hard water stains let it sit for a minute, rinse, and presto they are gone in an instant, that is if your talking about hard water scale, not hard water "soapscum" that stuff is nearly impossible to dissolve so scrubbing is the only way. Though this mix will destroy any metal it touches so its only good to use on frameless or plastic frame aquaria... also its rather dangerous as it can burn you quite easily... so I take no responcibility for any misshandling of it...

Or you can just grow a pair and buy it lol...but by asking for our opinions, I'm guessing the "honeymoon" stage is still going strong and the war of the roses hasn't broke out yet lol. Start with "Can't pass up this deal" then "I'll just stand it on end in a corner to save space till we move...hey honey, your collection of scented candles would look great on top of the aquarium" :), then the next day "honey, just a water test I promise, yep no leaks, ok let's throw some fish in there just to check the clarity of this glass wink wink" then she says "those fish are so cute and pretty" now you say "ok, tests complete..time to flush the fish" then she says "WTF did you just say you barbaric meanie! We have to keep them, love them and take care of them" then you act disappointed, and you say "I thought we had a deal about the new house?" she says "I know but I'll make it up to you :)" then you say "oh ok (fake tear time), but the fish look lonely in there, they need friends, I guess your gonna have to drag me to the LFS to get more". My work here is done, good luck lol
