180 tank weight?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Just moved my 180g to the garage by myself but only a 10ft distance with one step. Def. something if you're not in a hurry you should have two people or really 3-4 people do.

ahh lol. cool. then your probably lighter then 338 lbs then. w/e you do, dont try to do this yourself. its not worth hurting yourself or breaking the tank. pay someone if it comes down to that!!

we ussally do 2 guys for anything under 200 gallons, add more when needed

I just got a used 180g(glasscages brand). The glass is 1/2". Two average strength guys can move it. My guess is it weighs 300-350 pounds. If yours is being shipped then I would also figure there is extra weight and bulk added with the crate its in.

i was guessing it was thicker then 3/8" i would be a bit nervous if its not!!

I moved my 210 from the back of my Explorer, up my driveway, to the front down, up 1 stair, through the living room, and to the stand on one of these.

Had to wait until a neighbor got home to help put it up on the stand. But I work for a moving company, so I'm used to doing big heavy stuff all the time.

Worst case senerio, ask the place your getting the tank from to borrow there suction cups. I rented the ones from the store i bought my 200 from, and i had to go up stairs and down stairs and around things but two guys did it just fine with the suction cups. I just realized most fish stores here have them for rent.

I wouldn't trust suction cups. I got my tank from a member here who had some and while it may be varient to which kind/size suction cups you use we were carrying the tank with them when they couldn't hold any longer and gave out. Luckily we caught the tank but 180g tank crashing to the ground doesn't sound so hot.

Just got rid of my glasscages 180g glass tank yesterday. It was eurobraced and I'm guessing yours might be too. IMO it makes it heaver than a standard 180g because it's got extra glass in it. Mine was heavy. Guarentee close to 400lbs.

well, i got the tank moved in!!! it weighed 350 lbs and i found three pretty big guys to move it. i cant wait to get fish in it! it is cycling at the moment. how long do think it should cycle before i can put the fish in?
