what is that orange fish in the 3rd picture? It is beautiful and would love to have one or some....Never seen anything like it
that is a central american cichlid. cichlasoma festae. if you want the one in the pic make sure you ask for a female. much prettier then the males.

Awesome! Does that turtle have or need a basking area?

they are razor back musks. they're almost fully aquatic, though don't need a basking area, but they do have to have somewhere they can come up for air.

it's a female red terror or festae. i agree, she's definitely the best looking fish in the tank. :)

Nice tank and fish!
The turtles look like Razorback or Loggerhead Musks. That tanks pretty deep for baby turtles like that. Do you have a shallow place for them to rest near the surface?

thx, the turtles are doing good in the tank, i have fake plants that float on the surface, they usually stay there to breath. but they actually spend +90% of the time on the bottom searchin for food. they're realli curious and active, i love 'em :) but when they get bigger, i'll have to find an bigger island for them to rest above surface

Awesome tank:) What kind filtration are you running? Your water looks very clear even with all those fish. And I would provide the musks an area to get out of the water like a log or some floating plants. Even though they say musks are fully aquatic and don't bask often I have a common musk turt myself and he loves basking, just letting them dry off even without any heat/uv lighting is good for their shell.

i'm runnin a fx5 and a 30g sump on this tank. and the tunnel like drift wood was the "island" for the musks. it floated for 3 months and finally sunk. i used to put food on there for the musks to eat, and da's about all the time they'll spend on the drift wood. i've never seen them get out of water completely. even when they're on the wood, they're half in water.
but i will definitely provide 'em w/some dry areas for them to go on, thx for the advice :)
