180G Stocking

The festae is a definate, however, the midevil isn't, none of the above fish appeal to me (yet!), for this tank at least.
i figure, my male pink convict may end up like a miny midevil anyways. he certainly has the attitude!
Salvinis are a maybe, i kinda like those...
i wish i could have all these fish! makes it difficult to choose only a few.

What other kinds of fish are you looking for

Stick to an all male community tank. Or a pair of medium/large cichlids for the 180. You don't want the aggression of the pairs, trust me, torn fins and constant biting is not fun to look at.

A pair of parachromis is a good option IMO. If I dare to say it, even a pair of breeding dovii will do okay for a long time in the 180 gallon. But a pair of jags will do good in a 180 for life.

At the moment the tank consists of a lot of slate piled along the back, forming lots of caves etc. There is some tall driftwood pieces at either side, with a long piece across the front. There is a lot of live plants in there, growing quite tall. I plan to cange it around a little. Breaking it into three sections, one at either side. And one in the centre. Using a large piece of bogwood. Keeping the slate and using that at the ends, i will reduce the planting but keep some of the larger/hardier species.
Also, i dont like the idea of a all male tank. I have a male firemouth on his own, and all he seems to do is sit in the corner under his rock. Whereas the pairs are more personable, have interaction. I know i said i would keep a festae and a red devil alone, however i believe these to be more 'wet pets' with plenty of personality.
