And southeast Asia. They can be sympatric with rutilus and the LLG, but they are rare on the mainland.

Has only grown a bit in size about 20" now but it has put on alot of bulk since I have had him.

It is funny how my aquarium makes 20" fish look tiny lol.

This fish is unusually interactive for a goonch. Seems to feed out of my hand.

Question to other large goonch owners: Have you ever had any experience with your goonch being aggressive? Now that mine is settled in this aquarium he seems to becoming more aggressive. This morning he had a Polypterus in his mouth luckily I pulled it out of his mouth and the poly was fine. He also sometimes bullies my Wallago and hoplias curupira.
