Thanks guys. He has gotten a lot thicker over the last month. Judging by his body type and the progress he's made since I got him, any ideas on how large he will eventually get to be in the 150gal tank?

Don't think he will get much bigger than a foot. Most fh max out around a foot or a little past it.
That was what i figured too. Will his growth slow down now that he is around 7" like CA/SA cichlids do?
Well, the chunky guy is still growing at a quick pace. I broke out an actual measuring tape yesterday and he was right around the 8" mark. He certainly hasn't slowed down any, and he is forever hungry.
Thanks. I've still been working on his tank. I need to get another FTS posted. The water is pristine since I increased the filtration. I've added a skimmer, and I have a UV sterilizer that is ready to be plumbed in once I get the time to take apart the one canister to rerun the hoses.
I'm really happy I painted the back of the tank black because it really helps to hide a lot of the filter pickups and returns which is nice.

Woke up this morning and found him dead. I couldn't believe it. He was fine yesterday. Ate aggressively at all of his feedings, and the water params are all good.
The other fish in the tank are fine. It was a real shock.
I'll keep an eye on this subforum, but I think I'm going to get out of Hybrids for a while. Can't take too many sudden and unexpected deaths.

Sorry for your loss. He was a stunner. If you figured out what caused it please post. I just got my first one last week and I'm totally new to this game. Best of luck to you.
