leopards are awesome abd easy, corn snakes would also be another good choice, both you could keep more than one of, breed easily, both have many color phases especialy with corns who have easily over 50 different morphs, and not to mention the realitive ease of keeping them

I dont think the tank is near big enough for readily available species.

I would stick with the LEO's or a Ball Python.

Not a reptile for a beginner. Depending on the species (Savanahs and Blackthroats are the most laid back), they can get VERY aggressive and VERY big. I have a 1' baby Savanah, and its in a 50G breeder tank, which is the smallest it should be in.

I'd highly suggest a bearded dragon. A little more expensive then a gecko, but one of the easiest reptiles to care for and they are very tame. Just do me a favor, and do not use a sand substrate. I highly recommend indoor/outdoor carpetting. Very easy to clean, and cheap enough to replace every now and then.

A spiny tailed dwarf monitor makes for a great choice for beginners. They don't get too big, and are relatively easy to care for as they will accept a varied diet, and even in wild form are relatively tame. Also you could start a multi-species small lizard tank as this is a lot like having an aquarium. Stick to three or four small compatible species as most (not all) species of small lizards a pretty easy to care for as well. In any case whatever you choose read up on it first.
