How big of a tank should i start with ? I have a 55gal . I new to the hobby any info and help would be very helpfull.

If you want carnivores, a 55g may not be the best option. 55g's in my opinion are good for Herbivores and Omnivores such as Cyprinids, Small Catfish, Plecos, Tetras, and Gouramis.

Come to think of it, you could do Cichlids.

Yeah 1 tank is never enough. Once you get it cycled and then get the fish that you want , you will find other new exciting fish species that you want to keep. But abt the 55g , I think its an awesome starter tank . Just make sure u get a good filter, I recomend the Ehiem ecco for a 60g I forget the model number even though I have two of em and 1 for a 35g.

3-4 rbp , red bellied piranha and deck your tank out i mean make it look like the amazon + the black water extract, dim lights etc. etc.
