1st time testing water - how is it?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'm surprised your levels have not come down. You must have something dead in the tank. Maybe a build up of uneaten food. I would do a major gravel cleaning.

OK, my ammonia last night was around 0.25 - 0.50. I didnt get a chance to test it this morning but im guessing its going down. My guess is I lost alot of BB in the moving/draining process and they are recoverring. I did also remove a decoration, a plastic tree that was siliconed to some rocks. The silicone was supposed to be safe but I dont know if it may have caused the problem. It was in prior to the move so I dont know. I figure once I know the ammonia is gone I'll re-insert the tree and see what happens. Im also going to remove about half the gravel so that it doesnt trap too much crap in there, but leave enough for him to dig around in.

Ammonia is at zero, and holding, I guess things just needed to re-cycle after the move? I'll try putting his tree back in in a few days and see if it changes anything but I dont hink it will. Thanks for all the advice and input. Now all I have to do is hope he gets his appettite back.

how often do you change the media in your filters? should change 50% every 4 weeks to make sure they run good and do more water changes!! like 15-20% weekly to make sure waste is gone. thats what i do. i keep dirty fish tho.
