they got some wrong info. but they truely are a evil , fun, sweet fish , i miss mine, make sure when he gets to 6+ inches u have a good lid and no holes or even cracks he will try to see what life is like outside of the tank. mine did, he got though a small hole, scales everywhere from where he squeezed though

but he looks good and happy all in camo hunting and sleeping
 
Is this the "black wolf" that kinda looks like a coelacanth? Sorry I'm new to the wolf fish area.

In regards to growth usually fish are stunted by captivity some worse than others, there are probably hundreds of reasons for this, water quality and the correct diet being part of it. To get it larger than 20" if it was even possible would be exceptionally difficult requiring prestine water, a continual supply of the correct diet although not to much as they get a bit more exercise in the wild. It would take a very long time aswell as the growth rate towards 20" would be very very slow. You will be doing well to get it to 16" - 18", also worth remembering that wolffish and pretty much any other animal has a variance in eventual size just like us. some of us are short and some of us are tall. 20" is the max recorded wild caught, that doesn't nessasarily mean they all reach that size.
 
Nice specimen. They're hella fun after 10". Mine is nearly 12" now.
