Only advantage of the two 405s over the FX5 would be the redundant filtration. If you go with just the FX5 you better have some kind of plan for if the FX% were to quite working. Depending entirely on a single filter could lead to a disaster with your aquarium.

absolutely right.. i can't argue with that even if i wanted to. lol.

an FX5 will hold at least twice as much bio media as a 405 in just one basket. FX5's are HUGE, inside and out. i bought 4 boxes of bio rings that are supposed to fill one 405 basket each. and i had to put all 4 in my FX5. now i have to find another deal on bio ring media before i set up the new one.. lol.
