Natures Ocean makes Live sand that is black.

And coral food comes in many forms, good Fish stores with marine fish/equipment will likely carry it. Phytoplankton, Rotifers, etc. If you can find them live & refrigerated. They do not live long in bottles on selves, and well corals may still gain nutrients from that, not really quality.

Strong lights, good flow, lots of live plankton.

sponges are entirely non photosynthetic

I got this bad boy from my zoology lab, he grew out in of the 29's and I cut most of him off the rock and put him here

He gee big enough to split off algea scrapings and rods food and no supplimental care so they can't be that hard to care for

It's a red ball sponge I have no experience with anything else other than what's come in on live rock

The sand is carribsea Tahitian black moon sand

Did you mean live food for corals or food for live corals?

Yeah, liveaquaria say's they don't need high light. it also says to never let them touch air because it fills their system of cavity's up with air and "starves" it. still want one though!

eh.. i've picked mine up several times...

i just got the mini aqualight so im letting the corals fully bloom before i get more pics.. still waiting on that goby on back order

Glad you posted this gives me ideas for what I want to do with mine after I paint the back. What light is on there in the first few pics?

Hey BG, I am using the same sort of sand as you!

But I'm doing a macroalgae planted with zoas!

Hope this project goes well. So what is the motile stock list? (You might have posted it already but I scanned this thread...)

Thanks for getting me started in SW :D
