Heres my bio load

4 3" pbass
1 4" RTC

in a 150 5x2x2.

Could i just run two ac110's?

both with one sponge each and double the biomax.

At that size yes. When bigger maybe not. They might have enough cycles to keep the bio in check but not enough for mechanical fitration. Those filters running at 100% gives you a 6.6x turn over rate which is not bad. But when the fish get some size on them and, well there poo gets some size on it they will not have enough to pick it up. So more vacing will be needed. But if this is not a show tank in your living room go for it.

thanks for the info.

should i add enough extensions to get close to the bottom of the tank, to suck up poop?

im planning on a bare bottom tank.

ok a deal is falling through for a FX5. Could i run this fx5 solo? or should i just save the money and run the 2 AC110's that i already have?

i'd just add another ac 110 down the road. i'd say marineland 400 cause of the lower cost and the bio-wheel feature i like. but with that i'd say you are set for 10 years and by then you will have alot more choices for filtration i am sure of.

so should i run the fx5 solo for now ? and add the ac110 later on?

i have a marineland c-530 and a 400 HOB on my 120. it's overkill if you ask me. but if you are not like i am as in... siphon out uneaten food and poop on a daily basis then i say go with the more filtration. i take a big load off my bio and mechanical by my cleaning schedual.
the fx5 i wouldnt run solo on anything over a 150.
