Hello,
We just got our first arowana. She's a silver, but her fins and scales have a nice pink color. We've had her for almost two weeks and she's about eleven inches long. For now we have her in a 55 gallon tank with a Jack Dempsey and a Pleco. Everyone seems to be doing quite well together. We are moving in a few months and plan to get a 300 gallon tank when we have our new place. I have been doing some research on keeping multiple arowanas. We were considering getting a second. I've read that two of the same species will not get along, but others could. The place we got her from said that since she's still small that if we got a black arowana of similar size they should be ok. Again, we're only considering this, and want to make sure we have as much advice and information as we can get before making the choice. I've read that you have the best chance when the arowanas grow up together, which is why we figure if we're going to do it we're going to have to do it soon! Thanks!

Best chance IS to have arowanas grow up together, but the specie does not matter. 2 arowanas is a huge risks. And I'm not even sure your tank would be big enough for 1 aro even for a couple months. What are the dimensions of your tank?

One key ingrediant to being able to atempt keeping two arowana together is having multiple tanks so you can seperate them if needed. By the looks of it, it is questionable if you have the tank to keep one aro let alone two. You do not have to keep them together from when they are young, my two silvers were put together at 18 and 21". Your best bet would be to try this after you get the 300g tank.

In my 212 I had 2 silvers, a jardini, and a african aro so I do know it CAN work.. But I would wait until you move and get the 300 or bigger to add anymore aro's.. Plus if you're going to have a multiple aro tank go bigger that 300 if possible.

you'll have too be patient. getting 2 to work takes time......a lot of time.

Hmm, you need to upgrade asap. 55 is hella small for a silver that is pushing 1'. Watch it carefully till the upgrade. GL w/ a pair.

a 55 gallon with 2 arowana will not work..

I friend of mine had an arowana given to me and i tried it.. my own arowana is bigger than my friends.. and it attacked it...

had to give it back.. so nope.. its not gonna work out... u need a much bigger tank... and in an odd number of arowana..

You dont HAVE to have odd numbers...who said pairs don't work? Alot of people have done it and still ARE doing it...
