I prefer the Seachem one. Take a water sample into your LFS, and they will be able to test it for you.

Were there any signs of fungas or parasites?

Nope no signs of trouble at all.
My lfs sucks, I will get a test kit before getting any more fish.

Tough to say. Test their water as well. That might answer some of the questions.
