2 fahaka puffers???

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
juvies have there little quarrels but in a LFS setting there also stressed the LFS I used to work at stocked 5-10 small fahaka's in fairly regularly (when I did the ordering) lol and NO THEY DIDN'T EVEN DO WELL THERE IN A STRESSED STATE crammed together like that

yup its going to be a impossible try on having multiple fahaka(s) in a 55 gallon and besides its too small of tank for 1.Once they hit the 6" mark they are all in a period where they dont like anyone in the tank. But their were some people that had a try with a good match where they dont fight. There was this one guy on youtube where he had his fahaka puffer with peacock basses and with mines i have him with a clown knife in a 180 gallon tank.

In general, fahaka's and anything is a bad mix. I find it kind of strange that your LFS has 5-10 in stock. Few stores stock one let alone multiples.

I've seen it (also with other aggressive puffers), and every time I go back the next day there's only one left and any that haven't been sold are dead. I have no idea why LFS even do this since they're losing 90% of the puffers they order by keeping them in the same tank.

at that size and in that tank fahaka + fahaka= 1 fahaka

Actually it can mean 0 fahaka:

Thanks for the replys. Well I bought the 5" fahaka looks healthy but he still never eat anything...

dmopar74it sounds like you plan on keeping the fahaka(s) in the 55 for life, which is much too small for even one. min size is 125, many say min is 180.

no I do not plan on keeping the 55gal. I plan on getting a 125gal after I buy my arows a bigger tank.

cansatone it will outgrow the 55 in 6 months. when he gets startled he has no where to go and will hit his head on the glass

ahhhh..it never quote. :screwy:

1 fahaka + 1 fahaka = 1 fahaka - ROFLMAO!

I am getting a 3" and installing in a 55 - until I get the 125. I was HOPING I could get away with including about 30 neon tetras or other small schooling species, but I know there is a good chance that the small fishes would simply be seen as side dishes to the fahaka's diet of crustaceans.

Its interesting to note that at about 6" they become highly territorial/intolerant of other fish!

This is a very helpful forum! I appreciate all the fahaka threads :)

fahakas are nasty little guys
