2 Fish dead in 1 week, PLEASE Help

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
That doesn't make sense. He says he went to a lab to get tests on shrimp yet he didn't ever test for nitrates? I must be missing something.
I hope there's some sort of an outcome here....

So did we figure out the PH yet? LOL, sorry I shouldn't laugh but 2.0-2.2 would kill just about anything.

hey gypsy, do we have any updates?

i would still suggest following the suggestions that i laid out to help with the overall health of your fish, even if you really did get contaminated shrimp, i'm sure it didn't help that they were probably in a weakened state from the stress caused by the tank conditions. the addition of some more filtration should help to keep those ammonia and nitrite levels in check in the future. shoot me a pm or post here if you need anymore help.

Sorry for the delay in getting back with water results. And sure Ksane, it makes sense to do testing on shrimp since they became ill after a new batch of frozen shrimp and I had my water tested at the LFS twice in two days. BTW...I'm a MD as well but that doesn't make me an expert on fish water.

I'd imagine I'm going to get somewhat of a spike in these since I done a heavy water change last night, but these were the results from yesterday.

PH is 6.5
Ammonia non detectable
Nitrite <50ppm
Nitrite <50ppm
Temp still 82

Iodine .32 PPM which is enough to about take skin off our hands and may have well said that is exactly what it did to the little guys. They flash the shrimp with crap before they freeze it and sometimes causes issues. Guess I'll think twice before eating shrimp and darn sure won't be feeding them a cheap brand of shrimp although I suppose it could happen to any kind.

Thanks for you guys help and have a great day.

now theres a sensible ph level:headbang2
