I don'T want to steer the subject of the thread but i head id sharks get to 3 feet in a fish tank. I thought i would get a custom build tank of 10-12 feet in the future. In the near future i see a 8 feet by 4 feet 500 gallon for mine.

I'm certainly not arguing that they have the potential to get huge, and I've seen 4'+ ones first hand. But in my experience with my high-fin paroons, their appetites really decreased after they hit around 10" and growth rates slowed a lot. They got to that size within a few months but then took almost a year to get to 12".
Surprisingly, mine were also very peaceful towards tankmates (but fought constantly amongst themselves). I had them since they were about 2-3" and never fed them anything live. Even when they got bigger I exclusively fed them small pellets (from Kenfish). I successfully housed them with many tankmates that they could easily have eaten. They were real pussycats and got pushed around by a P. blochii that was half their size.
I'll admit I was pretty surprised with my experience, it was very different than everything I'd heard people say about them.
