Hi everyone,

I begin this thread to collect your opinions and your advices. :)
I own 2 7" S. geryi in a 75g tank with a plexiglass separation. They spent their time each side of separation without showing any sign of agressivity. I want to test a cohabitation in a 90-100g tank. This species is considered to be gregarious in nature and some experiences in captivity have been successful.
What to you think about this project? 2 fishes don't make a group but I want to try...

Thanks guys!

Bye.

They do well in shoals but the reason you don't find too many shoals is no one wants to risk creating a shoal if they didn't grow up together. too expensive to lose one

I'd have a lot of hiding sports and places to break up the sight line. Then keep a close eye on them. Best of luck

Thanks for your message.
My only real fear is that they're only 2.
I'll put many plants, one big root and some fine branches to create several hiding spots.

As you said, I'll keep a close eye on them.

Have a nice day.

I think you know the deal. 2 is probably not going to end well. If you had a third (or preferably more) they'd probably do fine but I'm not sure 2 will work for very long.

Having said that, I have never owned Geryi myself and have never tried to cohab 2, so take my advice for what it's worth..

You're so lucky to have them. I have never seen one for sale in the US and have only seen 2 people online in the US that have any. I personally couldn't risk putting them together because they're so rare here.

You got pics?

Hi,

@DmartinRhomb : Thanks for your advice. An acquaintance of mine owns 5 in a 700 without any problem. My problem is to own only 2 fishes. But nothing ventured, nothing gained!

@ballinouttacntrol : I'll post some pics tomorrow, promised! The rarity is one of the elements that make me hesitate. And I don't want a wounded or a dead fish because of my curiosity....

Bye.

Remember you have to sleep. All it takes is one bite. It's up to you to decide if you can or want to afford losing one, or at the very least, disfiguring one, in an "experiment." Raising a school is the way to go.
If you have problems, it will be the minute you turn your back, obviously.

I have to sleep, that's right. :lol2:
As you know, it's very difficult to find other specimens, but I'm a careful person... So I'll wait to have 3 or 4.
I'll post the promised pics today, and some of my others P's.
