OK, forget about the second as I've gotten rid of it this afternoon... but as far as the first one goes, I'm confused what's the traits that make people think male? is it just the pointy fins? I thought that males had a slender body and no speckling on the gill plate...

Everything I've researched leads me to believe that the first Dempsey is a female (Thicker body, speckled gill plate, and the fins aren't even crazy elongated)... but then again, you guys are the experts, which is why I came to you...
That first jd is a male. The females have a almost solid blue beard.

Ok, thanks... I guess that settles it, I've got a nice male. He's fairly docile (that was the other reason I thought female) alright thanks I'm not going to bump this thread, just let it fall to the bottom of the pile (unless of course someone else chimes in)
