(2) Med True Parrots 5.5" or (1) Lg True Parrot 9-10"

I agree with Ryan. They are relatively gentle compared to other fish their size, but they can be VERY rough on each other. My male routinely beat up the female he had been together for 4 years, and they were in a 10' tank.

I think you will be happy with one if breeding is not necessarily the goal. They are not shy and don't have to be pairs or groups.

Do you actually plan to keep the RTC in that tank for life?

I fish-sat a friend's that was mellow with his stock for six months (mostly earth eater growouts) but I've had two other friends whose fish turned extremely aggressive after they hit the 8" mark to other stock. Just something to keep in mind.
My friend's fish later killed a daemon that was introduced to the tank. Just something to note.

will only be about 5 palm size silver dollars and for now about a 4" red tail cat[/QUOTE
the catfish will murder them get the large one instead

i think their body shape will help them out... well see but i think it will work RTC will def take or some smaller silver dollars bfore it take out the larger parrots. if that happens with ill seperate. but i do think it will work, IMO the RTCs mouth would need to be about 4" wide. which would make it need to be in the 15-16" range.. and by then the parrots will hopefully be around 7" so it should work.

but thanks for the advice i was thinking the same thing for a little while

i appreciate the insite. im going to go ahead with the 2 for now and hope it works out. and no i do not intend to keep the RTC in there for life. but at 4" i do forsee me having some time before i have to move him. even though i do no have anything in the works for a larger tank i do have some ideas.
