2 new baby devils...did i make a mistake?

the two i ended up picking out had the nicest colors but also seemed the most outgoing, swimming right up to me basically. they seem to kind of be doing their own thing for now, only see them together once in a while. hope they end up being a pair or at least compatible with eachother. will be posting pictures tomorrow, all i have right now are a couple crappy ones i took on my phone.

thats how i picked my midas too. she was the only one who would right up to the glass when i was inspecting the tank full of midas. so i picked her. she was also the biggest and while all the others were flaring at each other she never got touched so i assume she was also the most dominant.

she is great with other fish even cichlids ive had/got but i dont know if i would risk another midas in anything smaller than a 6ft tank. just because she is great with tankmates generally doesnt mean she will play nice with conspecifics.

however you can beat the odds occasionally and get a nice one like mine. not all are stock killers. so good luck with them.

thanks for all the replies. we will just see what happens i guess. i will keep a close eye on them as they get bigger and just go from there. i wouldn't risk either one of them so if things start to go awry i will simply have to look for a new home for one of them, although which one would be a very difficult decision. for now they are just eating like pigs, exploring the new home. funny little guys, even at under an inch they already follow my finger around the glass. for my money you cannot beat the personality of these fish

They start to turn evil at the 4-5" mark. Time will tell whether they'll be compatible or you'll end up with a pair.

this is about right and they grow fairly fast. you may consider getting a larger tank at some point or just keeping one.
