2 new fh

They were at pjs pet. Said they came from local breeder. They were in one of the bottom tanks for a month the employe said and nobody was buying them. They moved them to a end tank at eye level and slapped a special o the day tag on it. Ive been there a few times but never really looked at all the tanks and they were right under my nose. A lil under prepared, i will have to start up a old 55 gallon tom when the wife is at work. Im going to try to sex them tom when i move them. They may be too small for the u or v technique. I wont know till I try tom! I will post pics so you guys can tell me what I have.

This lil guys fin damage has totally healed to perfect! 24 hrs after this pic was taken. Quickest heal i ever seen. He is the lone fish in the 20 long now. They got some fresh mp tonight and seemed to be big fans. He isonly 2.5 inches long right now. Hahahah I keep typing "he" like i know. At what length will the sex be obv? How long till this flowerhorn will need bigger than a 55 to itself? I just want to keep one. How long does it take for them on average to reach say 7 to 8 inches? Thanks for any advice from you fh keepers.
I wouldn't feed MP to a FH, but that's just me. These fish are omnivores, not carnivores, and adding straight meat to their diet isn't required, and when overdone can cause problems in some FH such as prolapsed rectum. I've grown FH out from 3" to 8" in less in 5 months, on an exclusive diet of pellets.
Ha ha friggin petstore guy told me they were big meat eaters! I know not to believe petstore employees but they brought this guy out of the woodwork like he was the resident fh expert! Straight pellets it is. Too funny!
when i say petstore employess i mean big chain employees. Lots of serious fish stores out there have at least a few very smart employees back there somewhere.
