If you want a combination of a canister and HOB filters, you can go with an XP3 and a pair of AC110s... for the price of one FX5. You can use the canister to strictly house bacteria, while the AC110s will do the mechanical filtration for you.

You can get them delivered pretty cheap. Like $225. I just went through the same dilemna on a 75 gallon. FX5 for the win.
