2 new tanks.. what to stock with ??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yes, I have a haitiensis in my bedroom tank and one in my tank at the office as well. I usually try to go for breeding pairs, so I'm pretty much stuck with single species tanks. Not to mention, to have an aggressive community with my current fish, I'd need a 300gal or larger :P

Okay, then I seen the Haitiensis.. I remember now.. that and your midas were my favorites. I came and bought your 55gal you had in your hallway. Maybe you can give me any info on the Haitiensis that you can , it would be greatly appreciated. Did you get yours from Spencer as well ?

Well, when they are young, you need to keep a good eye on them. They can be vulnerable to bloat. Why it happens? Different people have different ideas, but people have reported different things that they think helped. Less protein when they are young, reduce stress, turn up the tank temp a little and make sure you don't overfeed them.

And no, I haven't ordered any fish from Spencer. Mine were from a friend near Detroit. He got them from one of Rapps' suppliers directly. Some people here in Fredericton have done a few orders with Jeff Rapps and that's where my other fish have come from (midas was from PU). Wish Spencer had a wider selection of CA cichlids. I'm guessing that guy who runs the pet store in Moncton is doing regular orders from Spencer?

I had emailed him earlier this month, but Spencer doesn't usually stock many centrals :(

Wait a minute didn't I say to keep them solo like 5-6 posts ago? Are you guys reading my posts and advice. I thought I already mentioned about the Haitians diet-got advice straight from Rapps himself.

Yes. Shamrock.. I plan to keep him solo. Where do you see differently ? And as for feeding..I'm taking everyones opinion to feed every few days, not everyday. And I'm still finding out exactly what to feed .

trade em for a 200 gallon? lol.
