2" pigeon blood discus keep on dying :(

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Your first mistake is the place where you bought the fish. That same store here has no healthy fish in any of its tanks. Stay away from Discus period. I have seen some people keep them with success but I have seen more have no success. Buy a picture of a discus and tape it to the front of your tank because thats about how active they are. IMOP

dude dont be negative just give as much good advise as you can good luck with the discus

You should never buy discus from a LFS. They are likely culls to start with, and more often than not, been kept in a poor discus environment. Yeah, if you're not willing to learn how to keep them properly, then they will die on you. Many people, including myself, have kept the same fish for years without problems. I have a few discus in my 240 that are "old timers", bigger than a man's open hand, and still healthy. And they still come to the front of the tank and "beg" for food like puppies, and eat from your hand. Sick discus are the only ones that are not active, so maybe you have never seen healthy ones.
