Hey guys, I have recently (yesterday) encountered 2 problems! Firstly, i realised that there was some kinda white specks (small ones) at the bottom sides of my tank which contains a motoro and arowana. I then put my hand in to see what it was and along the 4 bottom sides of the tank was a thin layer of slime. Any idea what that is? I then did a good wash-up of my tank. Was that a good move? Secondly, when i woke up this morning, I found a long poo made by my motoro who has been feeding on small cat fishes. Here's a picture of it! What's wrong? Will I be losing it? :/ And when people say put salt into the water, are they referring to aquarium salt or household salt?

I see nothing wrong. Everything looks normal.
Poop looks normal. Ray is a bit skinny. Feed some earthworms to fatten him up.

No need for salt unless something is wrong. I don't use it at all unless last resort.

White specs could be the crap breaking up into white particles. I would do a prazi treatment just in case since this is a new ray, but like keepinfish has said, crap seems normal. I don't know how nutritious these catfish are, but I would switch to earthworms to pack some weight on that ray as it still looks quite skinny.

Oh I didn't know the crap was supposed to be like this. Kinda gave me a shock, thought something was wrong. About the salt, was just wondering if it's aquarium salt or household salt that people put, wasn't intending to put it haha :) yeaaaaa! i know earthworms are good, that's what everyone tells me and I see it everywhere on the forum but the thing is that this dude here likes to play punk and doesn't eat them! :( and when i try to put them in and he doesn't eat them, my dad would scold me cos the worms will pollute the water :'(

:iagree:everything seems normal. I think that you might need to get a better filter and the ray to be fed more. Just make sure u pick all of those stuff up wen u do a wc. Also I think u should change the diet of the ray. Is it live catfish or is it filleted and maybe frozen pre cuts? I think u should either try live worms (or frozen but rays sometimes do not except frozen worms) or a precut and filleted tillipia.

Well if your ray doesn't eat them then take the worms out..... after 3 - 5 minutes. Try mixing it in with your fish. It would be a lot healthier. Like a trick. Stuff the fish u feed it with worms then wen he eats the fish he will get used to worms. Do this for a couple days and then put in 1 worm too c if he eats. If he doesn't then keep trying the fish stuffing thing.

I feed him live cat fish so he kinda hunts them down. I have tried lots of stuff like frozen blood worms, earthworms, glass shrimps, market prawns, fish meat and the only one that works is the catfish :/ will try the stuffing method when i get back home! thanks!!

You should take a whole lot of worms, chop them up into 1" pieces, and then throw them in, they always go for this! The worms smell alot, and he will notice! Be a little strickt about it, dont feed the catfish for a few days.
