1. If I want to replace my tubing in on my canisters do I have to buy the replacement hoses from Rena distributors or can I just go down to my hardware store and buy any 5/8" ID tubing? I understand I'd want to cut the length to match what I currently have because of flow rate.

2. I get hard water stains on my tank, and weekly I take an algae scrapper and scrap it off. Since this is concentrated minerals that I'm now putting back into my tank is this harmful to my fish? I do try to suck it up with the python as I'm scrapping and watching it fall into the tank but I'm not getting all of it.

1. i'd go with drinking water safe hosing from the hardware store.

2. Cant help you with the hard water, but if your getting that much build up, you should be keeping African Cichlids as your hard water would be perfect for them! :)

I have some 5/8" ID tubing left from putting my CPU under water over the winter.

And I use to keep Africans, been keeping SA/CA for 2 years now with 0 issues in regards to the hard water - I'm able to keep it clean and stable.
