Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I thought it is illegal to have piranhas in Nevada? If so then its not a casino in vegas.

Sure it's illegal Fried Fish. But how many piranha owners live in New York? Come on. I know a few. I lived at Fort Bragg, NC for three years with an un-ID'd serra. Then when I came back to MI, I went around to ever pet store in Fayetteville until I could get the best price for him. The pet store that was selling a giant Snake-head gave me the most. LOL. I don't want to go off on a rant about Piranha's being illegal in some ignorant states. I find it shocking that somebody can go off to a pet store and purchase an alligator or a constrictor that grows large enough to feed on DEER but the man tells us we are not able to keep vicious, blood thirsty fish like the piranha. Sorry for going this way with the thread.

I'm lost. I'm talking about Nevada. NY is legal to own piranhas with a permit. When it comes to state laws on keep piranhas it has alot to do with the devastation piranhas may cause in the local water ecosystem and politics.

Look im not saying one way or anouther just what ive read in anouther post. I'm thinking a casino could get a permit if it wanted one. and they were rhoms not pygos.

You mean sera sp? or are you definite they are rhoms? I think if its an illegal state chances are even a casino can not get a permit for it.

like i said im not to sure, i didnt pay that close of attention since im never gonna try it. not even if a had a tank about 800 gal would i devote it to 2 fish.

I've been active on PFury for a long time, and whoever originally posted that story said that two rhoms bred in a large pond in Vegas, not in a tank.

The story has never been proven other than that member's word. No pictures, no backup whatsoever, its just hearsay.

Lets just put it this way, almost no one could afford a tank large enough to permanently house two rhombeus, so you don't even have to worry about it.

Only thing I disagree on is no one being able to afford a tank large enough to permanently house 2 rhom. Just how big enough tank are we talking about ? If you are talking about 10k-20k gallons I've already seen a tank that magnitude.

Im sure most of you know that some Serra can be successfully shoaled. But just like Pygos some times there are the odd massacure of the smallest or weakest.
Im one for beleving that if its thought about correctly and planned so a back up tank is in place if there are problems then rules can be played with. All fish are different as are humans each behave differently to a degree.
Just my 2cents for what its worth.

Dan
