hello all, i am new to this site and i have 3 tanks(30,55,75,180 not set up yet) and this one seems to be the problem child, i have a problem with my 2 alligator gars. i picked them up about 50 days ago, thay were doing grate in the 55gl they are in. i ended up getting some kind of spotted cat about 2 weeks ago, he is cool as hell. I think he gave my gars something, there fins look like thay are started to get fin rot and there eyes look like they have bubbles on them??????? i have no idea i need help.

Bro did u quarantine the fish before putting it into the tank?and is the water condition is good for gars? In the wild gars dun have to live in good condition waters to keep them alive but un out home we must alwayd make sure the nitrate and ph of the water.get your water tested bro.dp a chance of water everyday about 10 % and put salt treatment for this.try it bro
when i put the post i did not meen bubbles, each eye has one big bubble, the tank temp is 85 now and i added some salt. i did a watrer 50% change 2 days ago (1-25-11) my water is very hard when i tested it everything els is fine, how can i soften and could hard water do this to the eyes. and i cant put pics up i dont know how i am that good on comps... thanks and help asap
i got the cat at a fish store by my house. it has ben big tank in the shop for 8 months or so i have seen it for a long time.. he is fine, but i did just put him in the gar tank i did not think anything of it
My alligator gar went from 3" to 12" in 45days. If yours didn't grow about the same I would say A. Poor water quality or B. They aren't alligator gars. There are plenty of meds out there for fin rot though so just google it to find out what they are
well they got rounder lol went from only about 3in real small and young, they have tripled, i don't know if they are growing at the rite speed or not so any help is good thanks
i got them at 3in or just a cu hair under now they are 5in or so i just don't know what to do its a 55gl with 2 40gl filters. i think that would be good, i have a marineland 350 on my 75 and never has a problem.
I have seen gars respond well to melafix when they had what appeared to be fin rot, Not sure about the bubbles on the eye. Do you mean cloudy eye? I have seen melefix help with that as well.
