2 sick 5in alligator gars i need help

The size of that catfish makes it likely that at nighttime the gars are getting harrassed. Fins look bitten up, not rotting, from those pics.

And those are not alligator gars.
 
need to clean up the tank, get those plants back in the ground or out of the tank. Also I see some goldfish in the tank. Have you been feeding the gar feeders?
 
The plants are there for the, cat he likes them . Is there a problem with them like that? i am asking because i never thought that would be a problem . ya little gold's i also give them shiners,they have there own tank. i put the gold's in the tank to get some moving pic's.
 
Before someone rips you apart, Feeders are hardly ever a good source of food for fish. Also, if you had some cover along the bottom or bigger cover shall I say, The cat would likely hide down there since cats are hardly ever top swimming fish.
 
feeders are ur only option at that size. those gars need constant food untill approx 12" then u can worry about changing them to something better.

those tails are bitten. most likly each other.

catfish and gar really shouldnt be together. Usually they will have an issue eventually.

Thanks for the help guys. zpe thanks for that and what should i feed them as they get bigger? I have had tanks for years but these are my first predator fish (not talking about the cat). I fixed the tank, more gravel (jet black) another water change and cleaned the filters spotless, tank is looking beautifully again. As for the gars eyes, they are looking about 98% better. Only a small spot on one of each of their eyes. As for that cat, he is for sale (make me an offer) or he is going back to his home at the pet store next week. I will have pics up tomorrow......thanks again
 
Lep and madd, i have been shutting the light off early the past 2 days and that cat comes out and messes with them, not to bad but he is defiantly doing it..
 
LOL I would have chosen the cat over the gars! He is beautiful :)

Post an ad for him in the market place, Try to get him a good owner, he is so pretty I hate to see him end up somewhere bad.
 
ya purp, he is so beautifully when he comes and swims around. i was thinking about setting another 55 just for his ass lol.(i have a 65gl hexagon setup not running so i don't know what is going on yet lol) He comes out more sense i have been shutting off the light early. My 75gl is on the other side of the room with the light on it kinda looks like a moon light night for the cat in the 55gl.
