2" ST

Yup, that's an IT w/o a doubt. Very nice dat

I would have to disagree. I've seen plenty of true Siamese tigers with double tailstripes. The myth about the tailstripe method of distinguishing between the species is very unreliable (especially those stupid charts that generalize everything). I have had thin bar tigers with one or two tailstripes and the same goes for Siamese tigers.

You can argue that the true ST's with the single tailstripe are from Thailand while the double stripes are from Vietnam, but it's simply a locale difference rather than a separate species. That might explain why some Indo tigers have 3 body stripes that resemble the ST and others have 4. Locale.

That is a D. pulcher if you ask me. How the hell did you find it would be my question??

There's no way its an ST, doesnt even look like one. Here's a classic example of IT/ST lookalikes...

yeah... they're both ST's. Again, the charts are unreliable and this is what I think based on my experience and readings.

As for the body difference, it has been suggested that the ST's from Thailand has a shorter and higher body while the Vietnamese ST's are more elongated. This is more evident in the juvenile stage and it more or less diminishes as the fish grows. But they're both considered a single species, D. pulcher.

the tail stripe ID thing maybe wrong but i would NEVER pay big money for a tiger with IT tail stripes thinking it was ST

even if i got a small tiger that looked like it was ST if it had IT tail stripes then thats what i would say it was and if i ever put it up for sale it would be sold as IT

what about the dat he posted in his Avatar? is that ST? it IT?
That ones a little tricky, but I'll say ST mainly because of its body shape. I'd have to see better pictures though to make a more accurate guess...
