i kept 2 rosys in a cage for a while before and wondered if thats cool,i see some of you have 2 corns together.is this ok with some snakes.local herp zoo has 2 diferent cages with the same rosys paired up in them for the last 10 years or more so im thinking its ok.I would like to get a pair of mex rosys in a natural set up.

First of all, do NOT look up to zoos or petstores. They just want money, not necessarily the very best for the animals. Not to say they abuse them.

I'm not a snake pro, so wait for somebody to come. I assume if the tank is large enough, it would be fine. If not, just get one snake; it will focus more on you rather than on the other snake.

I have always kept my critters apart except for inverts, rodents and certain lizards...

Usually, I advise against mixing herps, even if its the same species, but in case of rosy boas, it's probably fine as long as:

1.) you separate them during feeding
2.) diligent with vet check-ups and whatnot (remember that if one snake has an illness, the other probably will, too)
3.) there are plenty of hiding places for each snake to get away from each other if they want.
4.) you're not trying to breed them (most pairs won't breed if kept together all the time...they get "bored" with each other)

Funny, corn snakes (a colubrid) and rosy boas (a boa, obviously) are two of the most likely species to cannibalize each other. This can happen and has been well documented online, in books, etc.

Still think its a good idea to house them together?

I to, strongly recommend no to house animals together. Its not like this type of animal is a social one so keeping it seperate would be your best bet.

I knew the corns are cannibalistic, but never heard of it in rosy boas. My mistake....but I agree, better safe than sorry and not mix them at all.

When these discussions take place, almost inevitably someone chimes in and says "well I'VE done it for X number of years and they're fine!"

For me...even if just 1 out of every 1000 pairs of snakes that were housed together ended up cannibalizing each other, I would not assume even that level of risk on my collection. Imagine how you'd feel if you were the statistic...and it would be 100% your own fault. I wouldn't be able to live with that, but that's just me.
