First of all, do NOT look up to zoos or petstores. They just want money, not necessarily the very best for the animals. Not to say they abuse them.

I'm not a snake pro, so wait for somebody to come. I assume if the tank is large enough, it would be fine. If not, just get one snake; it will focus more on you rather than on the other snake.
the herp zoo i refer to is our california natural living museum.the herps were started by Al Robins who had an incredible reptile rep.this is where i see certain snakes together ,mainly rosys and they had 2 gopher snakes together, one tank had to ratlers also, theyve all been in their for years,i just dont see how you think i cant look up to this establishment.i think this guy died like in his 90s and did this his entire life,im not bashin, just wondering why you think zoos dont know what they are doing,do they not know more than us?

Like I said, you cannot compare zoological collections to private collections.

Zoos need the public to view them so they fund their projects. Public don't know anything about the ecosystem and co-inhabiting, so you see a lot of zoological centres FORCED to to do stuff like that is considered as inappropriate just to generate revenue. I know a couple of vendors put more than one reptile of the same species (that are NFS) into the same enclosure just so they can impress people and inspire a few buyers. Although when you talk to them, they give you the proper husbandry.

Beside, zoos have vets on staff and they know what to do when everything go wrong. We don't have access to resources like that. Not to mention if an animal die, their admissions can usually be used to replace the said animal. We don't have that privileges.

So we try our best to take care of them so we don't have to pay extra for something that could be prevented in the first place. Remember, prevention is the key here.

They DO know what they are doing, it just that they have measures and resources to deal with problems that arise in co-inhabitation; we as private keepers DO NOT have access to those resources.

Adding to what Bloody said, zoos, etc, have plenty of space. You're wanting to try this in (I'm assuming) a 55-gall tank or smaller.

Again, I'm gonna re-itterate....just because animals "stay alive" doesn't mean they're healthy.

If a person smokes all their life and manages to make it to 80 yrs old, does it mean that smoking lengthens longevity? Of course not. That person lived in spite of his unhealthy habit, not because of it.
