Indeed, feeders can not 'stunt' growth, but a type of vitamin in carp like fish (your common feeders), and affect growth. A piranha fed solely on feeders will grow slower and not to the size of a piranha on a varied diet.

It is better to quarantine a feeder for at least a month. Or even better, breed your own feeder fish (convicts).
