I breed convicts to feed my aro, I have to hold by their tail for my aro to feed on them. The covicts are crafty and hide well in the plants, ocassionally one will get away but he usually manages to catch them eventually.

18 inches after 2 years? what the heck u been feeding it? mines only 9 months and its already 17 inches. but to be on topic, my big silver wont touch goldfish. even if i starved him. it was never a part of its diet and just doesn't see it as food. my smaller one, my gars, gourami, they all go crazy for goldfish but the big one jus swims around waitin for its regular food.

it's probably stunted.
 
once you get him interested in live food he may not want to go back..
