Just thought I'd add that they changed the style of the box when they modified the filter. The media basket used to just slide in or out and in some rare occasions the basket would rise causing water to spill out the back. It happened to me! The new modification was they added this little notch that keeps the basket in place and when you need to change the media you give a slight squeeze and then pull.

now i'm having second thoughts.... if it will make things difficult to change might as well stick to get the new version then.

It's not that its difficult...it's too easy. There was no "safety" feature that would keep the media in. Maybe I just had a defect. I'm just more at ease with the new one since I know that wont happen.

Thanks for that clarification. I have both the old and the new ones, and never noticed the diference.

Well i placed an order. We will see. The only thing odd is if you go to the home page they show all Hagen filter blow out sale and it shows the newer package???????
