20 Gallon Long fish recomendations - help my lil brother please :)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Just because it his first tank I wouldn't recomend a pair of anything. I think one of any of the following would be awsome though. Convict, Firemouth, Salvini, almost any african cichlid, or port acara/ blue acara. GL

Chad

i'd go with the puffer or a leaf fish and a small bottom dweller.

go with a leaf fish... beautiful predators. my next suggestion is a leopard ctenopoma. i have one in my personal gallery. make the tank planted for these fish. dwarf puffers would be pissa too though.

Go with dwarf puffers. That would be really cool!

i would not reccoment the Nandus nandus(wasp fish, butterfly goby) because they have poisonous spines and are very picky on wat they eat i had 2 and they both died in a month

they went on strike

That is the Neovespicula depressifrons, not the Nandus nandus. It is called a butterfly goby, a wasp fish, or a leaf goblinfish, and has venom glands. It gets to 4 " long and is in the Tetrarogidae family.
The Nandus nandus is the Gangetic, Indian, or primitive leaf fish, it is the largest of the Nanidae family and is no more venomous than a bluegill. They sometimes are hard to get too eat pellets but love small fish, crickets, and worms.
Here is a picture of a butterfly goby, they do have a superficial resemblance to the Nandus when the Nandus is very young, the Nandus gets twice as big.
