if the chamelions need more height than just turn the tank on to its side.. no just kidding, but i agree with the geckos or a hognose snake. hognose snakes are really cool. id get one of those or a less known gecko like a panther, because not as many people have those, where as many people have leapord geckos. but what you decide on have fun with it. im sure whatever you get it will be awesome.

Yea you could get a nice breeding colony (1 male to 3 or so females) Panther Gecko...

i meant that they are a good place to start

I REALLY can't say I agree. Those articles would start any beginnner on the wrong foot, and it'll only get worse. Some idiotic teenager (like myself) who decides savs are the coolest things since sliced bread and might look at the Aqualand articles. "They eat feeder fish? They like newspaper? How easy is that!" You get my drift?

A good place to start for a beginner is a GOOD book, not "How to Kill Your Savannah Monitor in 5 Simple Steps". Good books are just so rare, and I can tell you why. Pet stores, along with the general selling public, want your money. Plain and simple. You buy an animal, it dies, you get another. Pretty much the same princple with goldfish, only more expensive. So when they give you How to Kill Your Sav, you follow the 'experts' (yeah, right) and look what happens.

Its just another of the flaws in out hobby, its not supposed to be about the money.

Well, thats my rant. Didnt mean do hijack your thread though! Hahaha, sorry 'bout that ;)

If you want a snake, house snakes are good. Leopard geckos are easy breeders and fun to watch eat crickets. House snakes and leos both breed like mice, and their eggs are easy to incubate and their babies easy to raise.

Check out http://leopardgeckos.com for the ultimate advice and book. Ron Tremper is the god of leos and if it werent for him, you wouldnt know what a leo even is ;)

First off... if you are going to breed any reptile for feeder, you are looking at Anolis. A friend and I might start breeding them (Green or Brown Anoles) if we can't get African Vine Snakes onto mice.

I got a King snake ... wish I could get baby rattle snakes (legally) so I can see the real talent of a California King :D
