Hello everyone I have recently gotten back into fish keeping I set up a 20 gallon long 8 months ago
I just found out that on aqadvisor I am overstocked 151 percent.
I have heavily planted and decorations and caves
Everyone looks healthy no sickness or bullying
Water changes every friday 80 percent
Filter media cleaning every few months
Nitrates always under 40 before water change

Welcome to the forum!
It’s generally agreed upon that you want nitrates to be under 20 by the water change (lower is always better).
The two options are to increase water changes or to cut back on stocking. If it were me, I’d cut back on the number of rosies. They’re basically mini goldfish and I’d bet a similar waste output applies.

I have a 10 gallon regular would the rosy reds be ok there or how many rosy reds should i split in between the 10 gallon and 20 gallon long ?
Or would 21 rosy reds in a 10 gallon be way too much
The rosy reds were rescues weren't originally part of the stocking plan
Filters
Aqueon 20
Marineland 150
2 internal filters 90 gph
Current nitrate reading is 25
This is after a week monday through friday
Usually nitrates 40 or under when feeding every day but it stays around 25 if i feed once every 2 days

Aqua advisor isn’t the best website, but it is a good starting point. You have too many rosys. 21 should be in a larger tank. 10 gallon is too little. Tetras don’t do much to the nitrates, so I would suggest giving some rosys away.

No one is in the 10 gallon yet everyone is in the 20 gallon long I am trying to see if i could split 21 rosy reds between 2 tanks the 20 long and the 10 gallon
I just want everyone to be healthy and happy

What does everyone think of this stocking
plan

10 gallon
7 rosy reds

20 gallon
14 rosy reds
2 Bolivian rams males
7 neon tetras
8 black neons

Is this ok for everyone ?
I would just be moving some rosy reds to their own 10 gallon to better spread out the stocking levels
What do you all think thank you for taking your time to help everyone

I suggest removing all of the Rosey Reds and rehoming 6 or 7 of them put remaining in the 10 gallon. You don't need a heater for the Rosey Reds.

The part I wonder about is that of “filter media cleaning every few months” - why not weekly with water changes, at least on HOBs and internals? (I am not talking about replacing but of rinsing in aquarium water).
