20 gallon puffer tank?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Spotted congo(schoutedeni), regular Congo (miurus?), figure 8 (brackish), avocado(modestus)

The avocado will need teeth trimming no matter what you do so keep that in mind.

Those are what come to mind off the top of my head. What type are you looking for?

There is also:

C.irrubesco + C.Salivator that would work that are small enough and active species larger than a dwarf but not so large as not to work in a 20G...

I know that many feel the lurker type puffers can work in small tanks but the Dragon though fairly inactive can get pretty sizable and these guys make a mess when they eat. Someting like this really would do better in something like a 40B as opposed to a 20L. The footprint is better and more water volume is a plus.

I have a hairy puffer and he has a 65B all to himself. So Im big into giving the guys space and overfiltering with an AQ110 and Eheim 2217 on this tank.

29 gallon maybe ?

Think very carefully before getting a palembang (dragon puffer) or arrowhead puffer...

As far as lurkers, ime palembangs are very very lazy and will sit in once place 99% of the time... even my old congo puffer moved more than my pair used to...

Palems are like colorful rocks , but get too big for a 20L.

If you like lurkers I think a red Congo miurus would do the trick in your tank. They seem to swim a decent amount for a lurker. I had a suvatti and it mainly stayed buried or hiding. Really vicious during feeding time though.
