So I have my 20 long QT tank set up with a few waste monsters in it. It does have a sandy bottom because I find it very easy to clean in smaller tanks. I have a small HOB filter now and of course [I knew it would happen] it's starting to click every so often like it has sand where it shouldn't be.

What's MFK's opinion on putting 1 or 2 sponge filters in there with my little RTC and florida gar? I know they don't hold any media but are they cool to use? Any input?

Thanks!

So I hooked it up and its running... can I stop my HOB filter or should they run together for a few days?

give the spomge filters a month to mature, after that they can do the job on thier own quite easily
