20 gallon updates

I would make up a cheap DIY co2 system. Search the DIY section and you'll see what I'm talking about. For ferts go with Greg watsons ferts, they will cost you around $25 shipped for your tank and will last you nearly 3 years. Your plants are probably growing well due to a large presence of nitrate, due to the stocking. Your bacopa doesn't look to be growing that well. In my 135 I clip my bacopa once every week (approx. in half), and by the next week it will have already hit the top again. I once thought that my plants were doing well, but I have learned that they aren't doing as well as I had thought. Check out some of Takashi Amano's work. He is the father of planted aquariums as they are seen today.

With only 1W/gallon, you are limiting yourself to what plants you can have. WIth higher lighting the options open up. Your tank is looking good, don't get me wrong, but it has the potential to go crazy. You have a healthy environment for the plants. Now take it to the next step, and you will see a considerable change. If you get really good you will end up selling your clippings, either to local keepers, or to LFS.

Keep us updated.

add 1 or 2 w per gallon plus co2 this will help you vs algae.anubias and microsorum, java moss grow well under 1 watt.some poeple use copper for the algae control but im not sure if it 100% for the fishs,a fact botia and pleco dont like this treatment.try to stay in a irc close to 100 and a temperatur of 6700k with a max of 12 hour of light.i hope this little tips will help you

good luck

thanks for all the tips/complements. WyldFya i tried a diy yeast co2 but it didnt seem to help much

Did you use ferts in combo with the co2? or did you only use the co2? a balance of lighting fert and co2 is the only way you will see your plants really take off. If any are out of balance that can mean that you have slow growth, or accelerated algae growth.

There is was the culprit. As I said above the three need to be in balance in order for healthy plant growth. Try the CO2 again when you have some ferts. Once again, Gregwatson.com has some great ferts.

wyldfya which kind of ferts should i get there are some many to choose from
