20 gal rules out a big fish - single or not. Maybe a young rope fish?! It's long but not big.

I have a good suggestion for you from previous experience. Throw in there an oscar. The only thing I would worry about if i were you would be filtration. since you want to go with a big fish, wichever you choose, there will be alot of waste, so think about good filtration
