After you have digested the garf site, read ALL the posts on this board and you shouldn't have a problem or make a mistake... ;)

Since you are atarting from scratch you can have it all...monter tank / built-in overflow / perfect sump / correct fitting hood w/lights...no problem

And you did it yourself ! :woot: :woot:

Aight, I am COMPLETELY new to this, so...uh what? I don't understand. Do you mean with plywood ont the bottom, or glass on the bottom..or what? I have NO CLUE how to build a tank or stand or hood, that's 1 of the reasons I made this thread. Also, how do I get the gallonage on one of the DIY tanks?? What kind of wood should I use for my stand??

i would just buy the tank

build the stand/canopy and wet-dry

diy tanks are not that easy

for wood for the stand, pine will be fine.

heres the diy thread for hardboileds 220 tank stand http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12830

personally these diy step by step threads are crap, as they are not actually step by step but more liek step by stumble to me.

diy tanks are easier than you think
unless you try how do you know
discouraging others to try is not cool

How do I build a wet/dry? How would I get tempered glass??? Don't you need that for your tank??? Or was my LFS owner not thinking that day he told me this???

you cant cut tempered glass, so you need to order it the exact sizes you need it. tempered is stronger than regular, its heat treated and for sum reason this makes it stronger. if i were you i would do a ply wood tank and maybe mount it in/on a wall.
