i am a 16 year old guy i got my first fish tank when i was 6, but i've been hooked since. i got my 20 gallon 5 years ago it currently has two angelfish (about the size of my fist), 3 german dwarf cichlids (one male two females, full grown), and 3 speckled cory cats. i currently im trying to build a tank in my living room hopefully around christmas the dimensions are going to be aproximately 7', 2', 1.5'-2'. but my main problem is figuring out what to put into my tank. don't know whether to do a few very large fish, many smaller fish, or something inbetween. open to all suggestions, please help. thinking about doing a angelfish tank, maybey a cichlid tank (don't have to deal with plants!.:grinno:). again please contribute!

I just got a 245 and I'm putting 4 bluegill, 13 longears, 4 pumpkinseed, 2 warmouth, 2 green sunfish, and 1 texas cichlid in it.

Ok, so you want to build an aquarium 84Lx24W24H in your living room, get it done by Christmas, being 16 yrs old, and your major concern is stocking list? My intent is not to discourage you, but you haven't mentioned anything about water quality, filtration, location, build specifics. Dude, you gotta crawl before you can run.

DIY tanks are no walk in the park. You wouldn't want to ruin your parents house with 200 gallons + flooding your living room.

Yeah, I've been building my 430 gal for almost two month now and it hasn't been easy or cheap. I'm almost done but I've already spent more than 1000.00. I still need to wrap my stand, build my canopy, and create a filter system and plumbing. I planned this build out before I started and I still had problems to deal with. It's not rocket science, but still hard enough.

lol what?

Peacock bass would fill it up. Datnoids and arowanas are a good mix. Schooling fish get old when they
stop schooling together. so stay away from smaller schooling fish.

Why not just buy a 200? I bought mine used for 300. Just watch ebay and craigslist. But you will
end up with alot more money into it than you will expect.
